What is a Watt?

Just like water is measured in litres, electricity is measured in watts.

A 10 kilowatt photovoltaic system, the largest allowed under Ontario's Micro-FIT program, is 10,000 watts and will therefore power one hundred 100 watt lightbulbs.

By contrast, the Hoover Dam can produce over 2 gigawatts of electricity and can therefore power 20 million 100 watt lightbulbs.
